25 May 2005 - From my parent's room window!

just saw this while browsing thru the photos in my comp..
was planning to post this but i guess i forgot
it wasn't a very well taken pic but i guess you can kinda make out the hint of a rainbow?
it circled the sun but the view from inside is...well..restricted so..a pity
i doubt my camera would have been able to capture the whole thing and there wasn't much time to find a better spot and all coz when that pic was being taken..the rainbow had already faded abit
and was pretty much gone awhile after i took the picture.
so yaa i did abit of research..
i think it's a parhelic circle but i could be wrong
whatever it is...it's brilliant..quite a rare sight since you need the right angle of sunlight plus ice crystals for it to form

i made a little mistake with my previous post
apparently the restaurant in question isn't

had a really good look yesterday while having dinner at the Hans just across from it..

i wish i were a food critic..

if i were a food critic..
i shall be merciless..
& put an end to food that's tasteless!

if only..

but that's not gonna stop me from writing my own little 'review' of a certain 'j@#k thai' at mar*na squ@re..
wasted almost $17 on a really bad dinner.
here's what we ordered :
2 pieces of thai pandan leaf chicken
2 spring rolls
1 bowl of tom yum noodles
1 hot coffee
1 hot tea

the spring roll was alright..no complaints for that
the coffee..i'm not sure but i didn't hear any complaints so that should be alright too
BUT
the rest...ohhh..the rest.. *sigh

let the criticism begin..

1) the chicken. it LOOKED pretty good. i should have known by the lack of any yummy aroma that it won't taste as good as it looked..
the meat was nice & soft but it was pretty much tasteless. i mean yess..there was a slight tinge of pandan but besides that..it was boring. not salty..not tasty..not even sweet despite the bits of corn in it!

Verdict - BAD! don't bother tryinG!

2) the tom yum. it came in a big bowl..looked ok..UNTIL YOU TASTE IT! erghh..it had to be one of the worst tom yum soups i've ever tasted. the first thing that hits you when you take a sip of the soup is SPICE! HOT! hot is good..but when it's THIS spicy..it overpowers any other flavours! after that..you taste the sourness..abit too much.
after your taste buds recover from that shock..you're left with well..nothing.
no flavour you can taste..just nothing.
it was a seafood soup so there was fish - tasteless, squid - i don't like..but most likely tasteless, prawn - crunchy but otherwise..you guessed it..tasteless & straw mushrooms - normal.
there was a very generous portion of noodles but they were a tad overcooked so it got abit soggy after awhile.

Verdict - very BAD! worse than the chicken..it was basically seafood & thin kway teow soaked in watered-down, overspiced & too sour water with a hint of seafood.

3) the tea. it was pretty strong..which is good coz alot of the food places here can't seem to get their tea right..BUT a pity someone went crazy with sugar -_-! it felt like there was at least 3 packets of sugar in that little cup!

Verdict - you can try. maybe i was just unlucky!

so we've come to the end of my little mis-adventure with food today..but i'll definitely be back with more! hopefully with some good reviews as well =)

til then..please do take time to savour food when you eat? even when you're in a rush..the only exception would be when the food is beyond bad! =P
if not..where's the joy in eating?

i'm so disgusted by the male species sometimes
you love some..you hate some..
unfortunately..i hate more than i love..

i don't get why some guys have to treat ladies like a piece of meat or like an ornament on display or something far from human. us girls aren't around just to amuse, to boss around or strut around for guys' viewing pleasure..

trying to look down a lady's cleavage..even when she ain't showing any,
lusty staring(various parts of a woman's body),
indiscreet & desperate looks (constant and terribly obvious staring..like their eyes have been so starved of looking at members of the opposite sex -_-! ),
wolf whistles,
stupid comments/pick up lines eg. 'have you eaten?' when one has just stepped out of a car & heading towards an eatery,
only acknowledging your existence if they deem you pretty enough for them..if not they don't give a shit whether they're invading your space or generally being impolite to you,

WHY in the world would guys do that thinking girls will take notice & respond positively?!!
i mean all one needs to do to get a girl's attention is to flash a genuine smile..?
it really isn't too difficult is it..?

putting up dumb websites like 'sggirls' where guys go nuts about boobs and sneaking pics of ladies they see on the street,
expecting girlfriends/wives even female friends in general (i heard of a particularly bossy mcp lately) to always listen to them & boss them around.

so grow up some ya? learn alittle respect from your mama before you venture out to try to impress

i always hated the title of my blog..it was meaningless (to me) and well...terribly BORING!
so i got rid of it!
unfortunately i ain't feeling too creative lately..hence it's still sort of unnamed

anyways i just had a hair cut..oh no..it was more like a teeny tiny trim..my hair doesn't seem to be very healthy..it takes extremely long to grow..i'm so tempted to just chop everything off

i hate going to the salon..it's a waste of time and money
ergh..i'm more irritated at the fact that i have to sit there..usually for more than 90 mins..doing nothing. i was there for almost 2 hours..half of the time..i was sitting around and waiting for my turn..luckily i had a book there yesterday..a graphic novel..my first!

prettttty damn cool stuff..now i'm hooked on the whole graphic novels thing!
i'm so tempted to go buy up frank miller's Sin City now!! i can't wait for the movie to come out! EVERYONE should go see it..it's truly quite amazing..very cool stuff..

alright..it's time to get back to work

i can't wait for work to end..then i can finally go buy this wallet i've been eyeing for awhile and have some really yummy soup ( ;P ) later tonight! have i mentioned i love soups? not the western..campbell type but the boiled, herby..nourishing chinesey soups? yuuummmmmm..

my most expensive cab fare EVER!!

almost 25 freakin bux!! i don't believe it..
i was sick this morning..i don't know why..just felt very pukish and generally unwell.
i probably should have turned back and went home while i was still not too far from home
but i guess i was hoping it was just a passing discomfort..but no
the moment i reached the office..i headed straight for the bathroom..and threw up
i'm surprised i actually puked out stuff..coz i only had like 3 bites of bread
*sigh
it was sick..i felt so weak after
later i requested to take the rest of the day off.
decided to take a cab home..although i knew it'll cost me abt 16 bux to do so
i just wanted to be home as soon as possible so yaa...waited awhile before i finally got one
the cabbie apparently wasn't familiar with my estate..and me..despite having an 'in built compass' - i tend to remember directions and routes.. but that was useless coz I DIDN'T KNOW THE ROAD/EXPRESSWAY NAMES!!!!!!
*more sigh
so mr cabbie didn't get the route i was trying to tell him so he suggested going by another expressway. by then i was too tired to explain myself further and went along with his suggestion.
on a usual day with normal traffic..the ride would take me about 30 mins? and cost me $16-18

BUT NOT TODAY

there was a jam..a terrible one
apparently there was an accident
so we were stuck in very slow moving traffic for like more than half an hour

i was getting impatient and sick and anxious - coz i only had $17+ in my wallet!! i mean i wasn't expecting to be stuck in a jam!!!! so i asked if they accepted NETS for payment and the cabbie said yes
so anyways after a LONG LONG LONG time stuck on the CTE..we finally got out of the sticky jam.. i can't believe how smooth the traffic was after we passed the 4 damaged cars on the road shoulder!!! i would think that coz the traffic was so slow..it must have been a pretty bad accident blocking parts of the road but Noooo.....

so anyways i made it home..after almost an hour of traveling..i almost didn't make it coz the cabbie almost missed the exit to my estate..
yeaaa..tried to pay by NETS but i think his machine is meant for credit cards..
so i had to go upstairs..took an extra 10bux from my sis..then went back down to pay off the cabbie.

*sigh*

ergh..i should have got the cabbie to go by the way i'm familiar with..
but it's done and over..so no point crying over the extra money & time wasted..
but yaa..just had to post this!!
