boredom + raspberry tea freeze = ???

i can't keep still sometimes..so i got busy with a straw and my drink
it started off as an attempt to build a raspberry ice volcano..
but it ended up looking like some weird crystals or some alien organism..
totally useless but still pretty cool huh...?

Guess what i almost ate the other day?!

this happened on Tuesday, during lunch at this nice little stall at sembawang that sells very good teochew porridge. their steamed fish is top notch!

my dad decided to add an order of some kind of clam in spicy sauce.
so there i was munching away at my rice and just after i slurped up a piece of the clam from its shell, i spotted a beige oval object in the shell.
at first i thought it was just part of the clam so using my chopsticks..i flipped it around and to my horror! i saw this...


i was amazed and gross out at the same time.
amazed at how this tiny crab got into the shell - it was probably the clam's last meal...? and grossed out coz i could see the little black specks it had for eyes and it looked like it was gonna start moving again. *cringe*

i couldn't eat another clam after that.

Music & Me

Can you imagine a life without music?
It would be sadly dull and tragic!

I was a ‘late bloomer’ when it comes to music. I have no early memories of me listening to a lot of music when I was a young girl. I didn’t have a clue who NKOTB or Debbie Gibson were back in primary school when most of my classmates were going gaga over! I didn’t bother to go find out either!
I grew up listening to mandarin oldies, songs by Teresa Teng and Fei Yu Qing, among others. Throw in alittle bit of Chinese orchestra pieces and some Yanni.
You would be quite surprised at how my taste in music has evolved.
I bought my first 2 cds when I was 14? Celine Dion and Faye Wong album, both of which I really liked..especially Ms Faye’s album. I used to sing ALL her songs ALL the time with my friend.
My purchases after that was mostly influenced by what’s HOT on the radio or what my friends were listening to.
It was during that time when I went gaga over my first boyband – the Backstreet Boys.
Yikes! I was SUCH a fan. I bought almost all of their albums/singles, even hoarded lots of magazines which featured them. This silly teenybopper thing went on for quite awhile. The next boyband I obsessed over was Westlife.
Both of which got boring after a few successful albums.

There came a moment when everything started changing..in 2000 I think?
I fell in love with matchbox twenty’s If You’re Gone. Mad season was the first non teenybopper album I ever bought.
Soon after that, I finally outgrew the whole boyband/pop-py shit thing.

I no longer listen to Chinese songs – I think the industry is too full of R&B wannabies, cheesy boybands & fluffy sweet young things.
Neither am I into what’s ‘popular’ in the English music scene either!

Most of what I love now, I discovered them online or on MTV, before the whole hiphop rapper r&b invasion.
The internet is a brilliant place to discover new talents I tell you.

Radio has turned into an annoying thing. They only play what’s popular.
I mean tune in to either power98 or 98.7 now and you’ll hear an annoying hiphop or r&b song every 5 mins or so!
Sometimes I wonder if the masses actually have ears that work.
And well every now and then a new band or new singer enters the scene and it’s usually nothing spectacular.

Oh and one pet peeve of mine? Is when people say they like a certain artiste? Only because they’ve heard ONE song? That ONE song they hear on radio or something?
For example, don’t tell me you’re a fan of Jason Mraz coz you LOVE geek in the pink or you & I both.
Yes they are both catchy songs, but he has many other brilliant tunes so don’t declare yourself a fan coz of that one song. You’re just a fan of that one song. Not someone who truly appreciates the music of a particular artiste.

while on the way to lunch yesterday, i passed by an empty field and i felt the sudden urge to just run to the center of it and just lay there on the grass.
away from people. away from buildings. away from work.
sometimes i wish i lived in a different age..

Many blood boiling moments..

would you believe me if i told you i experienced 3 blood boiling moments yesterday?
whatever it is, i think i have anger issues. yea i think i do.
it's the bad temper and lack of patience, and on top of that, i don't like people very much..most of them annoy me.
so yea i guess i am quite socially dysfunctional..
or maybe i just need some kind of anger management..

i was exiting causeway point basement carpark, out into a 3 or 4 lane road.
i was checking for traffic when no more than half a minute later..the person behind me HORNED at me. it wasn't a light tap of the horn to tell one it's safe to proceed or whatever.

HALF A MINUTE AND THE BLOODY ASSHOLE COULdN'T WAIT
JUST CAUSE HE DIDN'T SEE ANY CARS DOESN'T MEAN IT WAS SAFE FOR ME TO EXIT

i drove out almost immediately ( i regretted that..should have taken my time )
only to be stuck at the traffic light with the stupid driver behind me
i was complaining to my sisters, gesturing with my hands
the next thing i know..
the stupid fuck behind was mimicking my hand gestures
he's not a young punk. he looks about 30. he had his girlfriend or wife with him..she didn't look amused but his actions.
you have no idea how annoyed i was. all i could think of was..

i considered getting out of the car ala road bullies and demand an apology.
but the light turned green and i drove off..he caught up
except i was heading left while he was headed for the right
i took a glance as his car was passing..saw his wife/gf looking over and i couldn't resist myself anymore.. and up went the finger

i don't understand why people can be like that.
what right did he have to behave like such a complete asshole?
what does he get out of it?

half an hour later..as i was exiting aye to get to my house..
we were tailgated by a blue suzuki swift

he was driving WAY TOO near
i tried braking several times but it didn't work
so i decided to really take it slow..drove around 40-50km/h on a 2 lane road
the dude behind had no choice but to stay behind for awhile as there were stationary vehicles on the next lane.
more tailgating.
until i cleared the last stationary vehicle..that's when i heard the revving up of the guy's engine..which prompted me to speed up as well =P
but then our little car just isn't made for speeding so the stupid guy..sped past me..and cut back into my lane dangerously close to me.
i had to swerve a little because of that.
IDIOT
i mean..he good lor. he got speedy little car..can over take other less speedy ones
good lor. GOOOOOOD. overtake one car only to find himself stuck in the same queue to make a right turn.
he gooooooood. he best. he brilliant driver.
he might as well speed alllll the way and try to cut past 5-6 cars right? if he's in SUCH a rush and he's SUCH a brilliant driver with such a goooooood engine.

Who gave you the right to bother the cashier (the only other employee, besides the pump attendant, that early Sunday morning) at Shell Alexandra 3 times, within the short span of 3 minutes, while she was busy attending to other customers?
Did you not realise she was actually in the midst of processing a sale?
Did you not realise that the ONLY pump attendant there, a very nice uncle who was already very efficient despite being the only one serving 10 pumps, was busy dealing with a customer that came before you?
Are you not aware of the meaning of the word 'QUEUE'?
you're no more important that any of the other customers.
What makes you think filling the tank of your test drive Getz was more urgent than pumping extra air into the other customer's tires?
So why is it you can't just wait in line? you only had to wait a few minutes..so what's so hard about that?
Don't tell me in your trade..time is money. that's bullshit..it's a sunday morning for goodness sakes! who's out at 9am at a Hyundai showroom waiting to test drive a Getz?
i think all that hairspray and chemicals (hair dye + truck loads of perfume) and inch thick makeup, has some how seeped into your brain and destroyed whatever sense of EQ you have.
