According to the WWF ( World Wide Fund fo Nature ) ..
the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna is now on the endangered list due to over-fishing.

great.
another species threatened to possible extinction thanks to human beings..

i don't understand why people can't give up a plate or 2 of tuna sashimi
especially when they've already been warned of the drop in the tuna population!

human beings can be so selfish.
what does it take for people to stop and do something about the situation?
when numbers drop so low, Bluefin fishing has to be banned?
but what will happen then if people still demand for tuna?
overfish the other types of tuna and threaten their population?!

*sigh*

i think everyone has a part to play to help save the situation.
so i've decided to stop eating tuna.
i don't know if those served in local restaurants are the Bluefin..but it doesn't matter.

so if you have a soul..
then do something. cut down on your tuna consumption..i'm sure if we all take that little step..we might be able to make a difference

since i'm on the topic of endangered species..

there's plenty of other seafood you can have instead!

so yea..i think i got alittle carried away on the part about shark's fin..but the demand for such dishes is really something i don't understand.

hopefully..people will wise up and the poor fishies won't have to suffer..

i highly recommend it. Do not be deceived by the trailer though..it made it look like a pure fantasy flick. it isn't. it's more about fantasy & reality colliding..
i really liked it..and i was probably the only one in the cinema left in tears at the end..
the acting was really good & the cinematography is brilliant..
so if you would like to watch something different that doesn't involve too much hollywood type action or a silly love story/triangle then this is the one for you.

i recently signed up for membership with True Yoga at Pacific Plaza & i went for my second class yesterday. it was an hour of Hatha Yoga for Beginners (it's apparently one of the most ancient forms of yoga) and i enjoyed it although at some points i was struggling..
and my left second toe cramped 3 times..for some really odd reason!
thank goodness no other parts of my stiff & under-exercised self didn't cramp..


i'm happy that i finally signed up for classes.
coz i decided late last month that i wanted to get fit and get strong.
plus it didn't help that i have a weak back..like an old lady's

yoga makes me feel good.
you really work your muscles & you get a good stretch
coz it's all pretty slow paced and there's emphasis on breathing..it leaves one pretty relaxed.

let your 14 yr old daughter pick up exotic dancing..?

if you would, how in the world are you going to be supportive of her 'sport'?
it's not like you can go and watch her performance like it's a play or a concert.
how can you deal with her cavorting around in possibly little clothing..pouting and teasing her way around?

i think i'll just die.

you must be wondering why i'm talking about this?
well i was watching 'Girls Out Loud' on Ch5 yesterday, while i was painting my toenails.. they were doing a segment about what the youths of today do in their free time.
and i was shocked to see 2 teenage girls..one of whom is 14(!)..who dance 'exotically' in their free time(!!)
it's like OH MY GOD!
the 14yr old looks like a kid when she was being interviewed but when she was dancing..she totally nailed that sexpot look!
if i was her mother..i would probable break out in cold sweat..try to stop hyperventilating..and worry like hell if she's out there having sex with boys.

i mean ok there's nothing wrong with alittle pole dancing..
BUT!
not when you're 14?!

goodness..why couldn't she have gone for salsa or something else instead?

what ever happened to the innocence of kids and teenagers?

remember some time ago i blogged about my sister & her friends being robbed of their phones? and one of them actually got punched in the face?
well just a few days ago, we received a letter from the police.

the 2 guys? went to trial and were BOTH sentenced to 4 years imprisonment.
FOUR.
PLUS...12 and 18 strokes of cane..

that's a pretty severe sentence for robbery + assault..
18 strokes of cane..that's insane!
i never would have expected that..makes me wonder what else they did to deserve that..

whatever it is..i hope they're smart enough to learn and repent..

first post of 2007!

no i don't have any resolutions to make or share..it's never been my practise.
changes can be made anytime..not necessarily when a new year begins.

anyway it's been a month since my last post..yes i've been lazy..
i was told by my sis to BLOG coz it's not exactly pleasant to see the diaper pic the moment my blog loads.

so here i am.

quite alot has happened in the past month..from big news that affected us..like the Taiwan earthquake to floods in the region..
to semi big but totally non-life changing news like how xiaxue got a new nose for free..
and small and completely useless news like how i bought 2 pairs of pants at 40% off..

the one incident i remember vividly happened just last week.
i was at PS with my sisters waiting for the lift at the basement when i noticed a small boy..abt 6? sobbing quietly near me.
he looked soo sad and genuinely upset..and he kept looking at his mum..
then i heard

"Why you never pass to me? Why you never pass to me?"

the mother.

i figured that the poor boy probably misplaced something.
and his dear mother KEPT repeating that same message..KEPT asking him why didn't he do this and that..

C'mon laa auntie.
your son lost the thing already..what will you get out of asking him over and over again?
was it your way of making him realise his mistake and learn from it?
i don't think that's a very good way?

all that did was make him feel damn guilty..you can see it in his face.
he's upset for losing something and he knows damn well he's upset you as well but there really is nothing he can do except apologise maybe.

i'm all for reprimanding misbehaving children but this kind of nagging is really just plain..useless!
if i were the mother..i think i'll first try to search for it..
if that fails..i'll make my kid suffer just alittle bit..just enough for them to realise that it doesn't feel good to not take care
of their own things and having to lose them. then i'll step in to comfort them and hope they'll learn from the experience.

anyway she went on for quite awhile..until the lift came.

so annoying...*BARF!

OH!
i encountered this crazy MPV driving tailgating irresponsible dad on the 4th lane of the expressway 2 days ago.
he was probably a metre or less away from my car..is that nuts or what?!
so i decided to teach him a lesson by not accelerating and drove just beside a big lorry..which left the crazy tailgater trapped!!
MUAHAHAHAHA..
he couldn't go forwards..neither could he switch lanes coz the lorry is just beside him!
he's mad i tell you..there was a young girl sitting just beside him and he's driving at just under 70km/hr..abt a metre behind me and probably less than a metre beside the lorry!!!

he eventually got tired and/or frustrated and decided to slow down to he can cut to the 1st lane after the lorry passed him.
CRAZY!
i thought he was gonna get out at the next exit..hence the switch to the 4th lane..

BARF!
