i finally saw it on monday at vivo's gvmax - also affectionately known as the big-ass cinema!
602 seats. 22.4m wide screen. yep.
pretty damn worth every cent paid.

having read frank miller's graphic novel, the movie didn't disappoint..
despite the mixed reviews from critics and the general public..
to see scenes from the book being recreated exactly on screen..it was just too damn cool

it doesn't matter that it wasn't exactly historically accurate, especially with the new material that was written for the movie.
neither did it matter that the spartans were not the least bit tainted by the amount of blood shed.
it seemed that all 300 of them still remained perfectly FINNNNNE looking after each battle.
so what if someone went alittle overboard with xerxes eyebrows..
and so what if we never found out what happened to the white horse?!

it was still a blast to watch!

the 2 most outstanding characters in the show were gerard butler's king leonidas and lena headey's queen gorgo.
gerard butler was PERFECT for the role! he totally owned it! i can't imagine anyone else playing leonidas..
lena headey was really good too, as a wonderfully feisty queen!

the whole movie was a feast for the eyes..and i'm not referring to the very buff spartan army..
the feel of the movie was totally different from anything i've seen.
it's alittle similar to how sin city was done..but this one felt more artistic.. very pretty..
i apologise for not being able to think of a word better than 'pretty' to describe it..it's the first word that comes to my limited vocabulary self..

anyway the battle scenes were well done...there were some parts of the show that actually made me want to jump out of my seat and fight alongside king leonidas!
the fight scenes were perfectly choreographed..so everything looked amazing..down to how the spartan red capes moved so perfectly with every move they make..
dramatic..but very nice.

this movie is definitely recommended!
but don't go expecting your typical war flick

a proper update

as the title suggests..this shall be a somewhat proper post about what i have been up to over the last month or so..
there have been some good moments...as well as bad ones..
well i'm stating the obvious aren't i?

so anyway...
since i last posted..

1) i went for the company's chinese new year dinner, where a bunch of childish men helped one desperate boy - TB aka tinted boy aka delusional ah beng at my workplace, take pictures of themselves with me in the background. GREAT. *thumbs up*

2) the 15 days of chinese new year came and gone. it was a new year full of yu sheng and steamboat =)

3) had coffee with my bunch of girl friends..all of whom have not come together as a group in years. it was a really good meeting..coffee and lots of chit chatting til starbucks closed at 1am.

4) got depressed for a couple of days. lost the motivation to work. didn't feel like i was being rewarded enough for my efforts plus it didn't help that i kept hearing about how one of my younger cousins was earning close to 3k.
i mean good for her, she deserves it but it really didn't help that i kept hearing about it especially when i was already feeling like i don't have enough money for myself..

5) about the money.. one of the reasons for the short period of depression was how much i spent over the last 2 months. some of it went to my sisters..i paid for my little sister's new clothes and shoes for the new year..all of which i have yet to claim back. not that i want to..i actually find it hard to ask for money back from my mum..
oh..i feel like such a part-time mother!

6) i decided to ban myself from shopping. no more purchases for me this month & maybe the next month as well. my first and only big purchase this month was for this black esprit cardigan.
so yea..no more..to make up for all the spending i did the last 2 months.
i'm gonna reward myself with the "little miss sunshine" dvd if my expenses are kept at the minimum this month =)

7) received a tea set - tea pot with with 6 little cups for valentine's day! =)
oh and a nice little bag of very fragrant jasmine tea..YUM..

8) i fell on saturday. hurt my ankle..silly me..
that day was full of drama..and quite abit of pain..
but i'm fine now..recovering very well..been running around in flip flops since..!

9) i got myself this ring..

started wearing it to work..on my ring finger..
it's some sort of last resort thing...to send out a loud & clear message to TB to just give it up already.

i hope he gets the message this time.
coz i'm sick of it. his presence alone is enough to induce discomfort.

i saw a really really unflattering headshot of TB in the employee records today.. *shudders*
tempted to post it but my blog will be soo..tainted..ew..

maybe i'll think about it..

but yea that's about it for now!

i stepped on a cockroach.
the first step i took into the toilet.

cockroach.
crunch.
cockroach.

SICK!

i couldn't stop screaming for awhile.
it's an unbelieveably disgusting and cringe-worthy feeling

if that was not sick enough..
the cockroach didn't die
yep.
coz i crunched the lower half of it.
so the feelers - still moving

SICK!

i attempted to use water to wash it into one of the squating toilets but i freaked out when the feelers moved alittle when some water touched it.

SICK!

after an attempt by my sis to try to kill it with a broom - from more than a metre away..
we were both too grossed out to do anything.
i called my mother.
who eventually came to the rescue and swept the partially squashed cockroach out of the bathroom and into a drain outside.

SICK!
