"If i were a politician.."

the upcoming elections..i really don't have anything to say about it. you may call me ignorant..but i really have no interest in politics? so as long as we're not ruled by a tyrant or a bunch of lunatics..i guess we're ok.
our government isn't perfect..but then again who is?
i think they're doing a pretty fine job so far..my only complaint would be the education system.
unfortunately..they're not doing a good job. not in terms of the syllabus but in terms of the educators.

although i'm not a patient person, neither do i aim to teach..
i get extremely worked up when i hear about nonsensical teachers.

people who don't care for the well being of their students.
educating a young adult/child isn't just about the books. don't stop teaching there?
what about manners? behaviour? morals? don't leave it to the parents.. i mean besides parents..teachers are the next most influential adults in students' lives..

people who don't think before they speak/scold.
i think some teachers don't realise how much the choice of words can affect a person. once you pick the wrong words or use the wrong tone..that's it..you attempt to "discipline" your kids but you end up encouraging rebellion or something..

people who are biased.
favouritism is shit. this lot should just be fired. straight away.

people who judge.
as for this lot..they should be ashamed of themselves.
being adults..being teachers..leaders..
how can one ASSUME what type of student is like based on what they look like?
what kind of an example are you setting for your students?!

people who are in it for the money and stability..and long holidays.
these people make me sick.

people who put up a show for principals.
and that's exactly how terrible teachers get away with their shit behaviour.
they put up a bloody show when the principal annouces that they wanna sit in for a class.
shouldn't they know that when somebody knows they're being observed..they will behave differently?? the Hawthorne effect..if i'm not wrong..

people who don't respect their students.
they are human beings as well..so how do you expect your students to respect you if you don't respect them?

people who think they're always right.
whoever gave them the idea that just coz they're older and that they're the TEACHER..they will always be right?! someone please remind them that they're not perfect.. the level of authority they have shouldn't be abused like that..

it sickens me to hear about people who enrol in NIE for a stable job..when they really don't give a shit about their students or have zero concept about teaching.
it's not about the pay. it's not for the stability.

IT SHOULD BE ABOUT THE PASSION TO TEACH AND NURTURE.

i bet you half of the teachers in local schools now don't have that.
i already know of a few.

So if i were a politician..or someone of importance in the teaching world or something
I would like to change the whole selection process for teachers!
it shouldn't be based on qualifications but on the personality and sincerity.
i mean if i can't feel that during the interview..or i can't get a sense of the person's dedication then i would think twice about setting him/her loose in schools.

another thing i would like to impose..
feedback.
from students.
coz the only people who are allowed to evaluate school teachers are probably only the head of departments or the principal or the VP.
when the students..are the ones who interact THE MOST with the teachers?
yes they are young and some of them might be biased..but i feel that they should be heard!
Why not?
IT IS more sensible to access someone from different levels & points of view.

hasn't anyone in moe figured that out?
or any principal..who has come so far..and is probably well educated and has had years of experience..think of that?!

ergh...
