vesak day.
i saw something in the papers the other day that kinda irritated me.
a photo of some buddhist youths walking around with boards around their necks displaying apparent messages about the religion.

disturbing.

why?

coz i've always viewed buddhism as a quiet..passive type of religion. which i really like. i associate it with peace..peacefulness

but when i saw that picture..it looked more like a riot..until you actually read the mesages on the boards..

what is the point of promoting buddhism like that?
why do they have to resort to such means? i mean the most active in terms of 'spreading the word' is christianity. so that has sort of become their identity.
so why did they have to 'copy' that?!

i don't understand.
there's nothing wrong with spreading the word but it just doesn't feel like the right way of promoting the religion.
it's like they are appealing to the youths or something with the colourful signs and messages?
the religion sort of loses the seriousness and the tranquility when they do that.

i don't know..maybe it's just me.
