I watched SuperSize me sometime ago and I have to admit I was alittle traumatized. It may not necessarily reflect the situation in Singapore but its still the same company so..it can’t be that much different…?
Anyway, last week, I had my first mcdonald’s value meal in a long, long time – grilled chicken foldover plus a regular iced green tea.
It was okay but the chicken patties were a lot saltier than I remember..i’m not sure if I ever want to eat at McDonald’s again..
Especially since they’ve done lots of stupid things with their menu..
Here’s 8 reasons why I don’t believe in McDonald’s as a provider of food anymore..
Hot Chocolate..
I don’t know if my childhood taste buds can be trusted – but back then, Mcdonald’s hot chocolate was pretty damn good. But they have sinced axed it from their menu and replaced it with crappy hot milo..
Iced Lemon Tea..
It used to taste like real brewed tea and not some crappy ass syrup with water.
Which incidentally, is what the new lemon tea taste like -
No hint of tea. No hint of lemon. Just crappy ass syrup water.
McSpicy Double..RIP
That was probably THE BEST thing Mcdonald’s ever came up with.
I loved the fact that the chicken fillets were not bread-crumbed or battered!
It was just simple & really tasty..very good stuff.
Alas, good things don’t seem to last very long in McD’s..a few years back, someone made the decision to make McSpicy a SINGLE, not a double..
They even had to mess with the chicken fillet! Instead of using a fillet, they mixed crappy chicken bits in, fat and all, battered it and deep fried it.
It’s so sad to see a good burger butchered & ruined just like that.
Spanish Omelette Bagel..RIP
Not to be confused with the Mcdonald’s breakfast bagel..that was really shitty..i tried it once and did not enjoy it at all. It was a total waste of money and stomach space.
Anyway..the spanish omelette bagel..mmm..
I was fortunate enough to have tried that wonderful breakfast creation that didn’t last very long. Imagine a fluffy omelette, full of capsicum and onions, a piece of sausage, cheese and some mayo (if I didn’t remember wrongly) in between a fresh bagel..
yummmmmm……
That was like THE most savoury thing Mcdonald’s ever did..it’s totally not typical of Mcdonalds but it was a genius combination.
Stupid stupid decision to axe it..
DAMN their malfunctioning brains and taste buds!
McGriddles..
Most unfortunate breakfast food.
McGriddles are like a cross between a pancake and a waffle..with egg and sausage and cheese..
It could have been good.
If they would just toast the bloody Mcgriddle just alittle more so it’ll be more like a waffle – slightly crisp on the outside and still moist on the inside.
That would have made A LOT of difference.
At least people can order takeout without having the Mcgriddle turn to mush..
It’ll so be good if they loaded abit less maple syrup..although the flavours sort of work, the maple syrup can be abit too much sometimes.
McNuggets..
Those are really weird now. I tried 1 last week and the first thing that hit me was the how light the nugget was. It’s practically weightless..didn’t feel like I was holding onto a small piece of meat..it felt more like a replica made of foam.
The meat was really white as well..very minced..very plain.
It’s Weird. Plain weird.
Almost un-natural.
Big Breakfast eggs..
They used to serve pretty good scrambled eggs. I used to eat them really slowly and saved them for last but now I don’t have any more cravings for Mcdonald’s breakfast coz they ruined the eggs.
Gone are the generous, fluffy eggs. Now all you can find is pathetic, over cooked eggs..I don’t even consider them scrambled anymore coz they’re so dry.
Bleurgh..
Hashbrown..
They don’t taste so good these days.
I’ve had instances where it was sour, really oily and there was once it tasted like it was fried in stale/overnight/greasy oil..YUCK. That was pretty unpleasant..
There.
I doubt I’ll ever be back there for food.
Dessert or drink..maybe..but no way am I ever going back there for their Extra Value Meals..ergh.
Maybe you should to.
